NEWARK, NJ – NJ TRANSIT is supporting customers who travel to and from PATH’s Hoboken Station while they complete extensive renovation work from January 30 through February 25. Customers are encouraged to view all alternate service options provided by PATH, including NY Waterway ferry service and shuttles to Newport and Exchange Place stations for increased PATH train service, by clicking HERE. NJ TRANSIT has deployed additional customer service ambassadors to assist customers during their travels.
“We are ready to assist Hoboken PATH customers by providing additional resources that will complement PATH’s established alternate travel options to ensure their journeys remain as smooth as possible,” said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri. “Collaboration between regional transit agencies is essential to keeping our communities connected, and we’re pleased to play a role in supporting PATH customers during this period.”
NJ TRANSIT customers using the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) or Bus Route No. 126 services may encounter more crowded conditions than usual. Customers are encouraged to allow for extra time to connect with alternate service option.
NJ TRANSIT is implementing the following additional measures to support customers while the Hoboken PATH station is closed:
NJ TRANSIT will have Customer Service Ambassadors available at Hoboken Terminal to provide assistance and information to customers during their travels.
Note: NJ TRANSIT will provide limited supplemental service on Bus Route No. 126 during the PATH Hoboken Station closure. This service will be operated by Academy Bus and will not utilize NJ TRANSIT equipment or operators. Standard Bus Route No. 126 fares will apply for all travel to and from the Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT) and within Hoboken. Customers must purchase NJ TRANSIT tickets for travel on Bus Route No. 126 service.
For Weekday Travel To New York: Supplemental Bus Route No. 126 service will depart Hoboken Bus Terminal.
For Weekday Travel From New York: Supplemental Bus Route No. 126 service will depart from Gate 213 and Gate 214 between 5:30 AM and 2:00 AM. This will provide extra capacity along Washington Street and Willow Avenue, providing connections to NJ TRANSIT Rail, Light Rail, and other Bus routes at Hoboken Terminal.
For Weekend Travel: On weekends, supplemental service from Hoboken Terminal and PABT will operate all day to provide additional customer capacity and connectivity.
There will be some schedule adjustments to select trains to enhance capacity and travel options for customers. These adjustments will begin on Monday, February 3, 2025 and continue through Friday, February 28, 2025. Rail customers traveling in and out of Hoboken Terminal will have the ability to connect to any one of the multiple alternate service options available. An NJ TRANSIT ticket is required for travel on NJ TRANSIT trains.
Effective Monday 2/3/25 and Continuing Through Friday 2/28/25
Train 337, the 5:42 PM departure from Hoboken, will be replaced by Train 6351 departing at 5:34 PM from Penn Station New York. Train 6351 will make all local stops to Maplewood, and terminate at Summit.
Train 6651, the current 5:34 PM departure from Penn Station New York, will depart at 5:42 PM. This train will not stop at Secaucus or Newark.
Train 334, the 6:47 PM departure from Summit, will be replaced by Train 6368 to Penn Station New York.
Train 246, the 4:08 PM departure from Montclair State University to Hoboken, will be replaced by Train 6246, departing at 4:17 PM to Penn Station New York.
Train 6264, the 7:22 PM departure from Montclair State University, will be replaced by Train 264 operating on the same schedule and terminating in Hoboken.
NJ TRANSIT will also be adding additional cars to the following trains to increase capacity:
The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) will continue to operate on its regular schedule to and from Hoboken Terminal. HBLR service is available between Hoboken Terminal and PATH’s Newport and Exchange Place stations for transfer to PATH trains. An NJ TRANSIT ticket is required for travel on the HBLR. Please be sure to validate your ticket before boarding.
